Wladimir Klitschko will go to Russia to face Alexander Povetkin on October 5th. The fight will take place in Moscow, where Ukranian Klitschko says he is excited about the atmosphere that Russian fans will create. He doesn’t seem to mind that many of them will be behind fellow Russian Povetkin. But to be fair there will be probably be plenty of admirers of Klitschko – the multiple world champion and second longest reigning heavyweight champion in history (behind Joe Louis).
Between them Klitschko and Povetkin hold all of the major heavyweight belts, except for the WBC which Klitschko’s brother Vitali holds. That’s why this fascinating heavyweight contest is going to be a massive draw. Millions around the world will watch Klitschko and Povetkin online or on TV, to join those excited fans in the Moscow arena in cheering on whichever of these two powerhouses they fancy to win.
With so much interest in the fight, no wonder Klitschko will be getting his biggest ever pay day at over $17 million. Povetkin won’t go away empty handed either, when he walks away with over $5 million.
